F-02 Ayu
She is 14 years old. Ayu likes trying new foods, animals, video games, arts and crafts, and nature/outdoors. She is very interested in making keychains. She also enjoys foods from different countries. Recently, she has been collecting cute stickers and exchanging them with her friends as a hobby. She is talkative, curious, laughs a lot, and studious. Aui went to Oregon’s homestay program last year and made wonderful memories. She would like to come to Utah to meet a new family, go shopping, and enjoy conversations with host family and friends.
F-04 Mashiro
She is 16 years old. Mashiro enjoys movies, trying new foods, playing the clarinet, camping, singing, dancing, and shopping. She is friendly, considerate, independent, generous, and easygoing. She wrote in English ” I love singing, so I’d like to ask my host family about their favorite songs, sing along with them, and share some of my own favorite with them. I’d like to cook Japanese dishes, such as yakisoba, udon, and chiffon cake with my host family. I love visiting new places, so I’m looking forward to experiencing them with my host family. I want to go on a homestay in the U.S. because I want to dive into a new environment unlike anything I’ve experienced before and grow as a person, meet all kinds of people, experience American culture, and broaden my horizons. I want to experience Utah’s great outdoors firsthand, so I’d like to gaze at the star-filled night sky with my host family and, if I get the chance, visit a national park.”
F-06 Riko
Riko is 16 years old. She enjoys reading, hiking, animals, camping, video games, tv, cooking, arts & crafts and more! She is cheerful, tidy, honest, flexible, and sociable. She wrote in English “I love staying active!! At school, I enjoy carious sports like volleyball and swimming. I am really looking forward to playing sports and being active with my host family. I am also passionate about music. I play the guitar and sing in a band at school. In my free time, I love watching Japanese anime, so I would love to talk about our favorite shows and music. I am very interested in food and can’t wait to try authentic American home cooking. Since I also love animals and nature, I am fascinated by the beautiful environment in Utah. I hope we can talk about the local wildlife and nature together. I love talking to people and want to communicate a lot with everyone! My primary goal is to improve my English and build genuine connections with my host family and friends in the U.S. through heartfelt conversations. … I can’t wait to join them for activities like camping and sports… To share my own culture, I’d love to cook Japanese dishes like Okonomiyaki or Temaki-zushi for everyone…”
F-07 Mikina
She is 13 years old. Mikina likes writing, movies, trying new foods, plays the piano, camping, computers painting/drawing, shopping, singing, dancing, and the outdoors. She is considerate, laughs a lot, curious, serious, and patient. Her hobbies are watching anime and movies. She also likes listening to POP music. She would like to experience American life culture, so she would like to eat an American size hamburger, ride a bicycle, and buy things that are not available in Japan.
F-09 Maki
She is 12 years old. Maki plays the trumpet and video games. She likes J-pop and idol songs. One of her hobbies is to play chess online. She is responsible, shy, quiet, and serious. Maki would love to come to Utah to experience the beautiful and majestic nature and enjoy scenery that is different from Japan. By entering an American home, she hopes to learn everyday lifestyle habits.
F-10 Sena
Sena is 13 years old. She likes trying new foods, cooking, dancing, animals, and she plays the piano. She is curious, laughs a lot, energetic, and cheerful. She was in cheer dance for six years and now she dances in the jazz funk and girls’ style genres. Sena is also interested in fashion, especially international fashion. She enjoys reading as well. Sena is excited to come to Utah. She wants to experience foreign culture and daily life firsthand. She also wants to see Utah’s nature and beautiful scenery and learn about the environment. She hopes to gain more confidence in her communication skills.
F-11 Sara
She is 13 years old. Sara likes arts & crafts, painting/drawing, cooking, museums, and animals. Her favorite thing to bake is bread. She hopes that she can try making bread together with her host family. Lately, she has been enjoying making different kinds of salads. She is considerate, curious, shy, and serious. Sara has always wanted to experience a homestay. Since she took the step to joining a club at her school last year, she wants to continue to challenge herself and grow even more. She hopes to improve her English and also spend time taking care of animals and other living things.
F-12 Kiyora
Kiyora is 12 years old. She likes reading, and shopping. She enjoys playing a musical instrument like the piano, acoustic guitar, and glockenspiel. She is interested in all kinds of music. She is sociable, responsible, shy, tidy, and quiet. Her friend had a wonderful homestay experience and shared many stories with her. Hearing those stories really make Kiyora want to have the homestay experience and build meaningful connections with her host family.
F-14 Ouka
Ouka is 15 years old. She likes animals, boating, camping, gardening, and shopping. She really enjoys sports and spending time outdoors. Ouka also likes baking and cooking. She is kind, cheerful, tolerant, and easygoing. She wants to experience a different way of life in the United States. She’d love to spend time in a place surrounded by nature, enjoy outdoor activities, and look at the stars. She also wants to try living in a home with dogs and cats.
F-15 Ayano
She is 12 years old. Ayano likes movies, reading, trying new foods, animals, shopping, and dancing. Her hobbies are practicing the abacus and reading. She is interested in learning new things and experiencing different cultures. Ayano is sociable, talkative, curious, laughs a lot, cheerful, honest, and flexible. She hopes to live in the United States while learning English and experiencing cultural differences. She would like to share meals and daily life with her host family and wants to experience what makes American life unique.
